👥 The TakeHomePayNow Logic Collective
We are a dedicated team of payroll auditors and tax software specialists with 40+ years of combined experience in federal compliance. While large corporate calculators rely on legacy code, our team manually updates our calculation engine every quarter to reflect the latest IRS guidance — including the confirmed 2026 One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) mandates under Public Law 119-21. We don't just calculate your pay; we audit the math to ensure you keep every cent you've earned.
What This Site Does
TakeHomePayNowCalculator.com provides free, bracket-based paycheck estimates for U.S. workers. We built this because understanding your real take-home pay — after federal income tax, FICA, and state income tax — shouldn't require a finance degree or a paid payroll subscription.
Every calculator on this site uses official 2026 IRS federal income tax brackets, the current Social Security rate (6.2%, wage base $184,500), Medicare (1.45%), and state-specific progressive tax brackets or flat rates sourced from the relevant state tax authority. All calculations are performed in your browser using JavaScript — no wage data is ever sent to our servers.
Our Calculation Methodology
We use a bracket-based annual tax liability estimate, divided by pay periods. This approach:
- Applies the 2026 IRS standard deduction to reduce federal taxable income
- Computes federal income tax using the correct progressive brackets for your filing status
- Applies Social Security at 6.2% up to the $184,500 annual wage base
- Applies Medicare at 1.45% on all wages
- Applies state income tax using real state brackets or flat rates (not simplified flat estimates)
This is not a true payroll withholding calculation. Actual employer withholding is governed by IRS Publication 15-T and your W-4 form elections, which can result in different per-paycheck amounts than our estimates. We describe our results as "bracket-based estimates" throughout the site.
What Our Calculators Do NOT Include
- W-4 adjustments (additional withholding, dependents, other income)
- Pre-tax deductions (401k, 403b, HSA, FSA, health insurance premiums)
- Local and municipal income taxes (critical for Ohio, Pennsylvania, and other states)
- Year-to-date earnings limits (Social Security stops at $184,500/year)
- State Disability Insurance (SDI) — relevant in California, New Jersey, New York, etc.
- Supplemental wage rates for bonuses
